SBEC actively works with local businesses seeking job opportunities for our program participants. Hospitality and food service, plastics engineering, food manufacturing are but a few of the industries that seek employees from SBEC. Employers can count on the staff at SBEC to understand their staffing requirements and refer only those considered ‘job-ready.’

For more than 10 years, E.F. Smith Quality of Life Learning Center has partnered with SBEC to improve the literacy and employment prospects of those living in the Erie community. Quality of Life offers GED preparation for those needing a high school diploma and is a certified ESL (English as a Second Language) center.

Goodwill Industries

Most of us know Goodwill as the place where we bring clothing and household items no longer needed. While that is true, the mission of Goodwill is much broader. “Most people think of Goodwill as a donation center. Located in Fairview, just beyond the bus line, Grimm Industries is not easily accessible for many inner-city residents. Transportation, then, becomes an added challenge for many potential employees enrolled in the programs at SBEC.
